01 — What felt solves
Felt does quiet work.
It seals, wicks, damps and polishes — almost always inside a machine, where nobody ever sees it. These are the four jobs it is bought for.
01
It leaks
Sealing
Felt compresses into a groove and pushes back, sealing a joint without a spring or a gasket set.
02
It runs dry
Oil wicking
It holds many times its own weight in oil and gives it up slowly, feeding a bearing for months.
03
It scratches
Polishing
Soft enough to carry compound across a finished surface without cutting into it.
04
It rattles
Damping
Dense wool absorbs the energy that makes two parts chatter, and keeps absorbing it.
02 — The materials
What we supply
Four lines: wool felt, non-woven felt, rubber emery and Sulzer loom spares. Everything else on the range is one of these in a different shape. None of it is made here — it is sourced, held and supplied.

Wool felt
Pressed wool in the densities and thicknesses the work calls for.

02
Non-woven felt
Synthetic and blended needle-punched felt where wool is not the answer.

03

04
Sulzer loom spare parts
Spares for Sulzer projectile weaving machines, supplied to order.

Who we supply
Felt rarely appears on a drawing by name, but it is in the machine. Here is what it does in each trade, and what we put into it.

05 — The firm
A felt housein Bhilwara
The firm began with loom spares and grew into felt, which is the order most people find surprising.
Bhilwara is a weaving town. Working on Sulzer projectile machines meant handling the felt parts inside them, and it became clear the felt was harder to get hold of than the steel. So we started supplying it. Three decades on, felt is the larger half.
It is still run by the man who started it. Bring him a component by its part number, by a rough description, or simply worn out in a cloth bag, and he will tell you what it is, what it fits and when it can reach you.
